We are natural light specialist because we believe that natural light, from the sun and its reflections, creates photographs that feel fresh, timeless, and truest to you. We begin all portrait sessions one hour before the scheduled sunset during “the golden hour,” when the light is the dreamiest. Use a sunset calculator online to determine the scheduled sunset for the date and location you’d like to do your session. Then, just subtract one hour to figure out your start time. (Also, please note that our sessions usually last about one hour.)
This was taken at the beginning of the session about an hour before the sun sets. Notice the nice glow of the sun above their heads. The ocean spray gives the ethereal glow and creates a great mood.
This was taken close to the end of the session. Notice that the sun has disappeared behind the tree line but still giving off that beautiful pink light just behind the trees. The mood is more subdued and relaxing.
